At Akanka our mission is to design Heaven on Earth. We do this by using Nature to design experiences that make people and organizations happier, kinder, and more creative. One of these experiences involves connecting more people to Nature in different ways. Why? Observing Nature has been shown to improve productivity and concentration, reduce stress, improve one’s mood, and more. Knowing this, we’d been keen on getting Nature into more homes as art. This is why we’re excited to announce our first art series centered on lessons from Nature.
We call it Stars. Stars is a wellness art series of photos with different types of flowers gently cradled between our fingers. The theme of this art series is self-discovery of the star within us. This is inspired and adapted from Lupita Nyongo’s bestselling children’s book “Sulwe” – a story about a young girl who wishes for her dark skin to be lighter. It’s a story centered on colorism and learning to love oneself, no matter one’s skin tone.
Stars is a reminder that following the three steps of the Framework of Intention – slowing down, giving gratitude, and taking responsibility – helps us build the creative confidence to become the stars that we truly are.
